Greater love has no man than this, to lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

"How did it happen?", the child asked.

He answered, "Because I love you my Child"

Love, in its simplest form, is expressed in giving. When we love someone, we search the world for that one thing that would bring a smile to their face. Birthdays, weddings, Christmas, Hanukkah, and romance are examples of those experiences. One event that transcends all of that is the gift of eternal life. God is passionate about his offspring, not desiring that we end up using our own free will to our demise. So he did that which was required by his righteousness:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

"Agape", God's love for you surpasses that of the natural sense. It is Love for no good reason, not because of our goodness, our performance, and accomplishment. All those do not measure up. It is the Love of a Father awaiting his returned child.
